"There are worse things than being alone..."
Charles Bukowski said that, and I think he's right. But still, I'm glad you've dropped in for a visit. This is the place to find books and poems by me, James H Duncan. Feel free to read samples in my "Words" section, view my "Books" to check out some reader comments, and be sure to keep drop by now and again for publication updates in my "News" section below!
Bird War Press has just released my fourth collection of poems, "Maybe a Bird Will Sing," and the chapbook is now available at their website! Samples from the chap are in the "Words" section of this site, and you can read reviews, reader comments, and order the book in the "Books" section: just click the cover.

My poem "Send yourself to me" now appears in Breadcrumb Scabs #6, and you can download the magazine at their website for free. Just visit

Other recent and upcoming publications include poems in Full Of Crow, Poetry Salzburg Review, Zygote In My Coffee, Thick With Conviction, Motel 58, and The Toronto Quarterly Magazine. A few more poems are scheduled to publish this summer and fall. I'll post details when they do.

In other news, I have started an online literary magazine called Hobo Camp Review: poetry & prose from the road. Click the cover of the first issue (to the left) to visit the website. It is a quarterly that will publish stories on the move, transient poetry, interviews, art, and more. Check it out, and read the submission guidelines to submit your own work!

Also, if you have read any of my books and would like to submit a review or reader comment, feel free to email me at jhdwriting@hotmail.com. Thanks!
